Applicants must be male and female, 18 years or older, and not nearer of kin than second cousins, half blood cousins, and not having a husband or wife living. Non U.S. citizens are suggested to check with their local officials for special documents to ensure that their marriage will be recognized. Applicants may have to prove their age. Those without acceptable identification to prove age may be refused a marriage license. Social Security Numbers are required on the Affidavit of Application for a Marriage License. Know your social security because those that don't may be refused a marriage license. It's recognized that non U.S. citizens will not have a Social Security Number.
